The Results are in….
All the candidates gather for the formal annnouncement of the results (we already have been told), but without the winner, Reform candidate Nigel Farage. So the very person who caused the by-election to happen couldn’t “demean” himself to stand with the other candidates.
And all because of a fake story about protesters - I was there, and nothing was happening. They actually stood down the security for protesters way earlier! But Freedom Alliance were there - along with the bin, the Loony party, and even some other serious candidates!
Final day of campaigning
Wednesday 12th August - the final campaign day before polling stations open tomorrow morning.
Last chance to speak to and influence the public vote - and with 34 candidates it is those personal interactions that matter. Polls say Reform 60-70%, the bin-man 10-20%, leaving most candidates feeding off scraps. This was expected as soon as the media narrative was set, even before nominations were agreed.
Freedom Alliance is proud to have been part of this by-election, whatever the outcome, bringing our principles and values to Clacton and the wider world
Campaigning gets arty!
Is this a Banksy or not? Went up last night in Clacton.
How do people interpret this piece of art whether it is or it isn’t one of the great artist?
Carnival in Clacton - and a day of rest
Saturday 8th August and the Clacton promenade shuts to allow the Carnival Procession to take place. Tourists and locals saw the floats and a unicycling cow tour past in a super fun atmosphere.
Hustings - Martin and 13 other candidates face the public
A Hustings event was held in Clacton Town Hall for the public to ask questions of the candidates, all of whom were invited. 14 candidates attended, but no Reform showed up,
Martin got his chance to pitch and to answer some of the questions posed by the audience. He also met candidates 121 before the Q&A started.
This is a video of his pitch.
Freedom Alliance on the Mike Graham Show, live to 10,000 viewers
Martin was interviewed by Mike Graham on Thursday 6th August about Freedom Alliance, the Clacton by-election, and more. Link to Mike’s excellent channel here - https://www.youtube.com/@themikegrahamshow
We are heading for a Hustings - Thursday 5.30pm at the Town Hall
Freedom Alliance are concerned that Clacton by-election is showing British “De-Mockery-cy” in its worst form, and the media is aiding that view with its obsession with Farage vs Binface, the latter who got 95 votes in the last parliamentary by-election.
So a group of the other candidates have worked together to put on a Hustings, to take place in Clacton Town Hall on Thursday 6th August from 5.30pm.
Martin will be there, promoting Freedom Alliance, but also celebrating positive politics as rival candidates put this on together to help Clacton voters understand more about their voting choices.
Party Leader and Clacton by-election candidate, Martin Davies, on the Wake Up With Sonia show
Martin spends 15 minutes live on the Sonia Poulton show discussing the Clacton by-election, Freedom Alliance, and the local media blackout on 24 of the 34 candidates.
Who actually gets heard? And how can the electorate make a reasoned choice if their local press doesn’t even provide any information?
How good is the NHS?
A blog silence for a few days as Martin heads into the NHS for minor surgery after a year on the waiting list. Not a problem, but an eye-opener nonetheless.
28th July - Happy 160th Anniversary Thorpe-le-Soken Station
Thorpe-le-Soken, alongside the other Sokens, had jurisdiction over themselves. The station was opened in 1866 on 28th July, and Martin visited it and the village on its anniversary. Devolution is taking local powers away. Freedom Alliance wants to bring it back to local councils, not combined authorities and Mayorships.
Clacton Q&A
We know local voters want to know more about Freedom Alliance and Martin - and a resident asked him a number of key questions. Here they are, with Martin’s answers, detailing why Clacton, why Freedom Alliance, and much more.
Campaign Leaflet
Clacton constituents will receive our Freedom Alliance election communication this week. See what we said about our principles, why Martin is standing, and what we want to do for Clacton.
Clacton by-election
Party Leader, Martin Davies, is standing in the by-election triggered by the resignation of Nigel Farage.
It has a record 34 candidates nominated and, whilst the press are trying to make it into a two-horse race, Freedom Alliance want to give the Clacton voters a genuine, credible alternative to Reform and Count Binface.
