Mark Turnbull
Paisley

Mark is standing again for Freedom Alliance in the Scottish MSP elections on May 7th 2026

We are proud to support Mark as he stands as a candidate for Freedom Alliance in the upcoming Scottish Parliament elections, representing Paisley in Glasgow.

This is Mark’s fourth time standing in recent elections, reflecting his ongoing commitment to representing local people and offering a consistent alternative to mainstream politics.

Mark has been a self-employed businessman since 1984, giving him first-hand experience of the challenges facing small businesses over several decades. He believes that too often, the main political parties prioritise large corporations, and that local businesses and communities deserve a stronger voice.

Having lived in the area for over 50 years, Mark is well known locally and has been actively involved including volunteering with a local Community Council to help address issues often overlooked by the local council.

Freedom Alliance is a volunteer-only party with clear and consistent principles. We support personal responsibility, individual freedoms, and giving people greater control over their own lives.

Mark is standing to offer voters in Paisley a genuine alternative — one that puts local people, small businesses, and personal freedoms at its heart.

Local Council Elections May 7th 2026

Freedom Alliance is a Libertarian political party born out of the freedom movement as a direct response to government overreach into every aspect of our lives, especially since 2020. For those people here who are, for whatever reason, now feeling disappointed in local political parties, I have chosen to stand as a candidate for Freedom Alliance to provide an alternative place for your vote.

We would probably all prefer to see the efficient running of local communities put before big party politics. Instead I perceive a pervading, growing Globalist NGO influence in the performance of the big parties which filters down to all local councils. It colours the stage and backdrop of their working, setting parameters for local politicians who toe their party line.

Freedom Alliance includes people from all political backgrounds, focusing on what is right for the people, not what is right for corporate interests that seem to have captured and now steer the big parties. I stand because I have great concerns about the continual erosion of our freedoms.

You may have also become aware that farming is under threat due to policies that are taking farm land out of production with the consequent insecurity to our food supplies. I see that the policies of globalist, non government organisations have created a political agenda that descends on us like “Clouds of mystery pourin’ confusion on the ground.” (From ‘Who’ll Stop The Rain,’ by Creedence Clearwater Revival)

I endorse local grass roots initiatives to spring up in freedom as positive possibilities for change in the community, from the option of home education to Community Supported Agriculture. There are independent community organic farming enterprises happening in many places, also locally. The People’s Food and Farming Alliance have been instrumental in inspiring and spreading the spirit of this important pioneering work in many communities and countries.
