28th July - Happy 160th Anniversary Thorpe-le-Soken Station

Martin visits Thorpe-le-Soken on the anniversary of its station opening.

Thorpe-le-Soken, alongside the other Sokens, had jurisdiction over themselves. The station was opened in 1866 on 28th July, and Martin visited it and the village on its anniversary. Devolution is taking local powers away. Freedom Alliance wants to bring it back to local councils, not combined authorities and Mayorships.

He sees the derelict Maltings and reflects on the Sokens who had Jurisdiction over themselves, so could make the Investment decisions that suited the local area.
