Ian Ward-Pugh - Nominating Officer and Operations Officer
Ian is a passionate and dedicated advocate for education, disability, health, and social care. With a strong focus on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), he works to ensure fair and meaningful support for all who have been underrepresented. He made a significant impact as the former Deputy Leader of the Democratic Reform Party before finding his true political home by chance in the Freedom Alliance.
As a former Chairman of Freedom Alliance, Ian assists the Executive not only in his two new roles, but also in day-to-day party business, providing a diplomatic and calm approach to whatever may occur — ensuring that decisions are considered, inclusive, and rooted in the party’s values.
His expertise in education policy and digital inclusion complements his role as the party’s tech lead. Ian’s love for solving technical challenges makes him an indispensable part of the team. When he's not managing the website, he channels his creativity through photography, capturing stories that matter. A lifelong railway enthusiast, Ian brings a deep appreciation for history and innovation — and at home, his beloved cats keep him grounded and smiling.
Driven by the belief that politics should be led by communities, not corporations, Ian is determined to return decision-making power to the people who live with the outcomes. His tireless dedication and diverse passions make him a true champion for grassroots change.
