Draft Policy :

Defence

A Sovereign and Peaceful Britain

Freedom Alliance believes that the primary duty of the UK armed forces is the defence of the United Kingdom and protection of its people, not the pursuit of foreign wars and serving the interests of unelected global actors, financial interests, or military alliances whose agendas serve neither world peace nor national sovereignty.  We reject the globalist agenda that has seen the United Kingdom drawn into endless conflicts, often under false pretences and always at great human and economic cost.

We reject the pattern of destructive and unnecessary military interventions carried out in the name of “liberation” or “security,” which have too often masked ulterior motives: regime change, access to resources, or the advancement of financial interests.  These wars have cost countless lives, destabilised entire regions, and drained the UK’s economic and moral capital, all while enriching defence contractors and global financiers.  It is high time for a new direction.

  • 1. Non-Interventionism and Prioritising Peace

    • Withdrawal from Unjust Foreign Conflicts: We will end the UK’s participation in foreign wars and occupations that lack a clear, lawful defensive mandate.

    • Focus on National Defence:  The UK should focus on defending itself from foreign attack, with defence activities confined to Europe and the North (?) Atlantic.  We will withdraw support from military interventions that are not directly tied to our national security and defence of British territory.

    • No British military personnel should be deployed to fight in third-party conflicts that do not serve the direct interests of the British people.

    • We would conduct a full review of the UK’s recent military interventions, including Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan, and commit to full public transparency of their political and financial underpinnings.

    2. End to Militarised Foreign Policy

    • We reject the model of foreign policy dictated by NATO expansionism or military lobbying.

    • We will scrutinise all military alliances, including NATO, with a view to prioritising sovereignty and independence over subordination to external agendas.

    • We will oppose any military alignment that obligates Britain to participate in conflicts not authorised by our own Parliament or not directly related to national defence.

    • We oppose the use of our military to enforce regime change or resource exploitation.

    • We oppose integration of UK military into an EU-wide military force, and prioritise national sovereignty over the co-option of HM Forces into the EU’s orbit.

    3. Defence, Not Offence

    • We will maintain a lean, modern, well-equipped and highly capable defence force focused on defending the UK’s borders, maritime territory, infrastructure, and digital sovereignty.

    • Investment will be prioritised for home-based security, civil defence, cyber protection, and the integrity of UK borders.

    • Overseas deployments will only be undertaken in response to a direct and demonstrable threat to UK national security.

    4. No to War Profiteering

    • The UK’s foreign policy must no longer be shaped by the interests of arms manufacturers, private security firms, and financial institutions that profit from war.

    • We would strictly regulate arms exports, banning the export of British arms to authoritarian regimes or any state engaged in aggressive or expansionist warfare.

    • Defence procurement will be transparent, accountable, and strictly separated from lobbying interests.  No more government lobbying by factions that profit from war.

    • Prioritise British manufacturing in military procurement contracts in the interests of our sovereignty, national economy, and security oversight.

    5. Truth and Transparency

    • We will declassify and publicly review the UK's involvement in foreign conflicts since 1990, including Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan.

    • Parliamentary Sovereignty over Military Action: No military action shall be undertaken without a binding vote in Parliament, based on full access to evidence and intelligence - not manipulated dossiers, secret wars, or intelligence-led manipulation of public opinion.

    • Emergency powers will be tightly circumscribed and subject to rapid review by an independent panel.

    6. Veterans Dignity and Support

    • We owe our servicemen and women a debt of honour.  Those who have served in Britain’s armed forces must never be left behind. We will reform veterans' care to ensure access to housing, healthcare and mental health support, meaningful post-service employment support for all veterans.

    • We will end the culture of neglect and bureaucracy that has failed too many former service members.

    • Ending the cycle of war means honouring those who served and refusing to send others to die for the interests of bankers and corporations.

  • Freedom Alliance stands for a sovereign, peaceful United Kingdom: free from entanglements in unjust wars, free from the influence of foreign powers, and guided by the will of its people, not the profits of global financiers and the military-industrial complex.

We call for restraint, and the right of all nations - including our own - to determine their own destiny without interference or coercion.

We say: No more wars for profit. No more bloodshed for bankers.
